I haven't searched this topic on the forum, sorry if someone posted already.
So basically in my college campus, I need to login in the browser after I connected my ps3 to the internet. Recently they updated the software and now I can't get on because it detects my ps3 is not a windows or mac(of course lol). For that, I couldn't get internet access. If there's a way to fake it as windows or mac so it will allow me to get online.
    Thank You

Simple answer, no. Difficult answer, is it's possible if you use a MITM attack on all the packets coming out of the PS3 and change the UserAgent string so that it mimics that of a PC or Mac.

are you sure it filters by 'manufacturer'?

maybe it only whitelists certain ports and protocols like http?

Easier option: Buy a router (any cheap router should do), change the MAC on the router to that of the PC that's plugged into it. Use PC to "enable" the connection and from then the PS3 should be able to get online. Did similar things at my Uni.

    Try that ^^^^^

At my old University - my DS was not allowed to get online. I cloned the DS's MAC address to my laptop, then went thru their little "log in" crap -- it took it and let me get online-- then turned off the laptop after it was authorized on that wifi spot - and the DS was authorized to work as well. Might wanna try that technique... But in all honesty, the router one sounds more likely to work in your situation.
Alright! - I can't wait to make a long ass list of all the systems I currently / have ever owned...
    Oh wait, no one cares

The router and pc should both be spoofed to the ps3's MAC because it needs to be recognized as the one doing the authorization. After the pc did the authorization in the ps3's "name" the MAC will always be present and connected thanks to the router and you won't need to authorize again for as long as the router remains powered and connected.

No they shouldn't, the only thing the server will see is the MAC of the router itself, not anything beyond it. It probably doesn't even matter if it's spoofed or not, but considering we know that it specifically looks for a PC, spoofing it as a PS3 might just cause more issues. The authentication is expecting a PC, so spoof it as a PC. The router will handle all the traffic, all the connection will see is a PC with traffic on various ports, regardless if it's the PS3 or the PC being used.

it's a PC in general that is being refered to regardless of MAC address so linux is fine
