Fair price for cechh01

my uncle has a 40gb cechh01. he literally has had it in a box for almost 2yrs. he never played a game w it and prob played about 5 blurays. dont know why he has it really. so i told him id make him an offer. i dont wanna rip him off. im thinkin 140 or 150? the thing should b in perfect shape but thats prob the shittiest model ever made. wasnt it the cheapest model?
so what should i offer? more? less? just tryin to get an idea. thanks all

I would say between 150-200 for a well-kept system is fair.

I had a brand new 80G with 3.15 I never used, sold it last year on ebay for £385!

Im not sure how you come up with that . I have that model and i have been known to leave it on days at a time and its still running strong.

I got my chechk01 model off my uncle for $300. Same thing as you, he never really used it. I figured I would get that one instead of taking the chance and getting something with 3.42+ on it. $150 is a rip-off, gamestop sells used PS3 for like $230, and you know you will be getting 3.60 with that! $200 atleast.

i dont think there was a "shitty" ps3 model ever created... even the launch models were good systems. it was pretty much in how the end user MAINTAINED their console to insure longetivity. while the earlier consoles DO use more energy & create more heat, the 1st generation slims (compared to later generation slims) also have that "feature". the heatsink in the 1st generation slim was probably a little small for the processors and typically had overheating issues, somewhat similar to the 20/60gb ps3s except the launch ps3s were more dust magnets and loose heatsink hardware causing ylod. i still remember psxtreme's first tests with the launch ps3 - 3 days in a 110deg sauna & still working, 3 days in sub-zero temps attempted, but the ps3 shutoff when it approached minus 60 (turned back on when it warmed up though!). that's extreme testing!

Well I just bought a brand new 320 gig slim and it had 3.55 firmware .. So all these older models the price should drop very low for them .. Yes they are (fat) models with more support but pretty soon we will have all the support we need without (Fast) Over heating problems and such. This model on craigslist goes for really cheap. If I was you I would just keep it cause in all actuality you shouldn't get much for it.
