external harddrive set up help
external harddrive set up help –

I'm hoping some one can help me set up all the folders for my new 1tb harddrive
For any one else interested in getting one Hitachi X Series 1TB, Black, External Hard Drive its 49.99 for black friday great deal
But anyway, Unless the technology has changed since I last looked into I know it has to be fat 32 format
However what I do not know how to do is set up the folders can some one tell me how I will need to set the folders up as far as names etc
I'm looking to do this for Ps3 games + the Roms etc not sure if they can be played off external
Now folder set up a side, I would also like to know the best manager to use for this I was kind of waiting on Unified manager but that seems to be a dead project so if any one can recommend the latest and greatest one it would be appreciated.
Finally with what ever manager you recommend please tell me how to switch it from external to internal thanks in advance for everything.

hey I have a 2 tera external and it will only make around 220gb? of it in fat 32. You have to make a folder in the root of the fat32 partition called GAMEZ and put all the games in there. the games should be called something like BLUS12345. You can also get away with renaming those folders to the actual games title to make it easier for future searching. I use gaia manager. u plug in the usb and it will show all the games u have in the games folder, then just highlight whatever game u wanna tranfer to internal and press circle to copy it. Also i tried making multliple partition on my 2 tera but only one of it will show up on the ps3...
Edit this may work http://psx-scene.com/forums/f177/for...e-fat32-67411/ (Formatting External Hard Drive to FAT32)

Will I have to copy it to the internal to play it?
Will I be able to back up games straight to the external?
What folder should I put ROM's in ?

,
It depends on the game, most games can be played off external, but some games that require to be played internal or they will black screen, also goes without saying games with files over 4GB need to be on internal too. Check here for game compatabilty in whether they need to be on internal or external

Put them in "GAMEZ" folder on root of external harddrive.
Use Multi manager

I prefer that over everything else at the minute.

Yes, just connect your FAT32 usb harddrive up to the ps3, load up mutimanager and it will copy the game straight to your external drive if you so wish.
