EU standard definition on NA TV help needed. –
Hey guys I have a quick question regarding display resolutions. I know and understand PAL and NTSC use different standard resolutions and one will not work on the other. I know editing the param.sfo will sometimes allow you to bypass this and get the game to work on normal resolution, however I am running into an issue with one game in particular. The only other EU game I have, the sfo was already edited and worked without a problem, however with WWE 12, I cannot get the game to run correctly on a NA standard TV.
Previously I was getting an error that the game could not be started with its current resolution, I went into the param and changed it and the game was able to boot, however I ran into a problem where the game was bassically only displaying the top left corner of the screen. Almost as if it was trying to output at 1080 or 720p and the standard screen just didn't have room to display it all. I have tried disabling all resolutions except for 480, or only disabling the PAL ones but no matter what I do I get this same error. The game will work perfectly fine on an HD tv, but not in a standard resolution. One odd thing too is even when my ps3 is hooked to a HDTV displaying in 1080p, if I try to use my Vita to remoteplay the game, I get the same issue on that.
Is this merely a problem with the game itself and how it was made/the resolution support and there's nothing I can do, or did I "fix" something wrong that's causing it to do this? If anyone has experienced this problem and has any ideas on how to fix it, or if this is just how it works I would appreciate any help.
Also, oddly enough if you manage to make it through the menus when it's displaying like this, the ring is actually perfectly center with the screen, and all of the movies work fine. I have no problem dealing with randomly going through the menus until I get into a game but of course if there's a way to fix it I would love to do that instead.
Pal and NTSC differ in Framerates Pal is 50fps and NTSC is 60fps it does not differ in resolution nowadays. 1080p 720p etc are universal standards. its the framerate difference that your tv will have trouble handling
PS3 is region free by default. you can play both PAL and NTSC games without editing any files so you shouldn't have to patch any Param.sfo for resolution or framerate changes. the PS3 will adjust it accordingly automatically.
seems like you should get original param.sfo and eboot or maybe just make an entire new backup of the game.
