is the e3 card reader what i need? or is this even possible?

im very new in the ps3 jailbreak scene so please bare with me. i have a 320 gb cech-2501b slim ps3. from my research im pretty sure it originally came with 3.30 however when i bought it used it was at 4.11. im looking into different ways of downgrading to 3.55 or lower so i can hopefully install a cfw. ive done psps, idevices, androids, and eveninstalled a few ps2 modchips so i have intermediate knowledge on basic jailbreaking. now through research i know its not possible to softmod 4.11, or downgrade 4.11 simply through a usb, like i would with a psp. because of this im looking into buying an e3 card reader but dont think i understand it fully. so after all this here are my questions, is it possible to downgrade 4.11 just using a dongle? is the e3 the best dongle for the job? also after i do manage to downgrade is a softmod possible on 3.55 without needing a flasher of some sort? any help would be greatly appreciated

ATM theres no way of downgrading 3.56+ except with a flasher........ Rest of the post deleted... hehe

to downgrade your system, you will need an e3 flasher, and an e3 card reader, and a thumb drive. you dont need to solder anything with e3 flasher. with progskeet you will need to solder 50+ joints, unless you buy the clip ofcourse

but before you do anything, you better tell us the manufacture date on the console.... OR, the date code.

i have already purchased the e3 card reader... came in today. but the date on the system is november 2010, which through some research ive found is downgradable to 3.40. (thanks to ps3devwiki) i ordered from gocybershopping and got the e3 reader for 9.99, they have the flasher for approx. 88 + s&h anywhere i can get it cheaper? i only need it the one time...
