E3 cannot find SD card
E3 cannot find SD card –
I've finally got the PS3 CECHL01 80gb NOR running with E3 installed. Now however, I get 1 blinking blue light on the flasher -- error code for "Cannot initialize SD card".
I've tried reinstalling the entire flasher twice, reinserting all the cables, trying 3 different microsd cards, updating the E3, putting paper under the flasher inside the hard drive slot, wiggling it in circles, cleaning the contacts on the flasher, the SD card slot, and the sd card itself, and whatever else. Still nothing.
What am I doing wrong?
Side note, totally unrelated: The E3 flasher is a piece of shit and no one should buy it.
Check that the notch in the SD card is lined up with the reader properly and make sure you push the metal slide lock/cover to the left to get a good connection. I had the same problem with mine. I really didn't like the SD reader it uses. It does have the feeling of being cheaply produced but it does the job
I've been sliding the little door thing shut on the SD card. As far as the SD card lining up in the slot, it looks like it fits to me, but I just can't get it to read the thing. It did once, earlier, and gave me an error message about the clip not being set straight (which I fixed). I'm about at a loss.

I reformatted it to FAT32 and tried taping a coin over top of it to no effect. It still just blinks the 2nd blue LED at me continuously when I try to do anything.

I know it's probably a little late but it just occurred to me that you'll get the sd card reader error you're talking about if the e3 flasher board (the part that goes in your hard drive bay) grounds out on the metal housing inside of the hard drive bay. I had to leave out the metal slider piece for the hd bay and I had to fold a piece of paper over a couple of times about the size of the board in the hd bay. I placed it underneath of the board and it worked fine
Sorry it came to me so late. I don't know why I didn't remember it earlier
I tried that as well actually, though I appreciate the help. I had read somewhere else that the metal in the hard drive slot can cause the error.
I went back and spent some time looking at the flasher, and it looks to me like one of the SD card pins isn't long enough. They aren't all the same length, but one is noticeably shorter than the others. I'm thinking that it isn't reaching the sd card when I put it in place. I tried moving it around, sticking the SD card in various lengths, holding the card door shut, taping money to it...
I'm gonna just wait a while, see if anyone comes up with an exploit to install CFW on a higher OFW version. After all this work I'm really just ready to play some xbox or PC games. If they don't find an exploit, I'll probably just buy a new flasher and clip and try again.
cannot you just return it and get another one ?
