Dying Ps3 hdd?
I was compiling grafs latest kernel on linux when my ps3 froze. I restarted and it blue-screened, not the blue screen of my monitor, but a different blue. Anyways I went into recovery mode, it couldn't format the hdd, error 8002f271, so I formatted it in my pc, and tried again in my ps3 with success.
My ps3 itself seems to be fine, but what I'm wondering is, is this a sign of a damaged, dying hdd?
It's the stock, 160gb hdd that came with it when i bought it about 9 months ago.
Edit: Oops, meant to post this in general ps3 discussion, I'm sure it will be moved soon.
I highly doubt it. This seemed to be caused by software errors: the linux kernel. It might be a slight corruption in the NAND, nothing major as it seems though. But from what you said, your HDD shouldn't be at death's point. Or anywhere near unless it's very old, which then it wouldn't be SATA :D
