If I run the FTPd and then connect and look at the blu-ray drive i can see the Bluray film's files. They are still encrypted at that point I would imagine (don't know yet).

Once they are on my PC, is it possible to decrypt them here? I don't have a bluray player on my PC.

Is there a better way to use the PS3 to dump blu-ray disc?

I'm on 3.41 firmware and just have Open Manager (no hermes) and FTPd. Everything is working great.

Good question, I use anydvd to rip blu rays via my internal bd writer. I am not sure of a way to decrypt the movie files on a hdd.

Maybe you could mount the ftp'd blu ray files and rip them with anydvd then.

On the anydvd site they have a free mounting app, you will need ot buy or find the anydvd app. ( I bought my license as they do release new updates regularly and i rip quite a few blu rays to watch on my media streamer).

You can then shrink the decrypted blu ray files down to fit on a dvd-r (4.7gb) dvd dl (8.5gb) or bd25 (25gb). You can choose movie only or full disc, it takes a while based on your processor (my q6600 takes roughly 10 hours to rebuild) To do this you need to use bd rebuilder, google it and use the links in the doom9 thread.

    hope this helps

(Kayot casts 'Resurrection' on Thread. Thread now has 1hp, anything greater than zero mean it's ready for action!)

Ka-Bump, I was wondering if any one with a bluray movie could test this?

Is it possible to extract the files via FTP and then decrypt them with anydvd once they are on the pc? Or is it like DVD's and I wouldn't be able to copy them off the disc before decrypting the disc?

I was considering getting a bluray drive for my computer but if I can use the PS3's bluray drive, it would hold me over till the bluray burners and writable discs come down in price.

If I can't FTP the files, can AsbestOS rip them like Linux (PS3 flavors) could?
