downgrading from 3.55 CFWs

Hi

since every day we get new custom firmwares now, and id like to test some im wondering if its possible to donwgrade from a 3.55 ofw or cfw to 3.41 without danger ? ive got a slim

There was a 3.55 to 3.41 (*****) downgrader released not too long ago:

Dongraded from 3.55 wanikoko to 3.41 (with modded 3.41 so 3. 56) and then using old 3.50 downgraded went back to 3.15. Out service mode updated to 3.41 OFW.
I did that for changing hdd with one that was on old 3.41, because if you are in 3.55 you must(maybe there is a workaround to not do it) format to use in 3.55.

what is 3.41(*****)downgrader?
what do you mean (with modded 3.41 so *****)?
so if you go to 3.55 ofw then to say waininkoko or wutangrza,you can downgrade back to 3.41 ofw and go back to using jb?

Yes you can, using special downgrader for 3.55. Demochild posted above.
When you used those files you have to downgrade again with old 3.50 downgrader. That's all!

In order to downgrade from 3.55 to 3.41, we had to change the version number listed inside of the 3.41 PUP file (it's now 3.5_6). The steps are as follows:

1. From 3.55, enable service mode, downgrade to 3.41 (3.5_6)
2. Once at 3.41, downgrade again to a firmware less then 3.41, but greater then or equal to the firmware that came with your PS3 (3.40, 3.20, 3.15, etc) <-- reason for this step is your PS3 will think it's on 3.5_6 and you won't be able to install any firmware unless it is a higher version number then it.
3. Once at the lower firmware version, upgrade to whatever firmware you wish to have on your PS3

i dont understand that one

why does this sit censor three point five six?? this makes no sense can someone explain this i have never seen it censor anything else ever before why would it censor a number????

so, if my ps3 was shipped with 3.41 i cant downgrade to something lower than 3.41 which means i cant ever get to a clean 3.41 when im on 3.55 ?

actually i dunno what firmware it was shipped, its was on 3.41rev2 when i got it
its pretty new, i heared it was updated once, but it could also have been updated from the 3.41rev1 (the buggy one)

what will happen if i downgrade a 3.41shipped ps3 to 3.15 ( in order to upggrade again)

theres definitly a brick protection needed for the ps3...
a cheap nand flasher like for x360...

It's because there was a fake firmware that was released right after the f0f talks that was purposefully released to brick consoles. I'm trying to get Gary to remove the censor on it, but he's on vacation this week.

Just downgrade to 3.41r2. It should work just fine. There is a chart on wikipedia that shows which firmware came with which model from the factory though, if you want to know.

in order to downgrade from 3.55 to clean 3.41 u have to downgrade to something smaller than 3.41 before... [355->3.41(called3. 56)->3.15->3.41]
my question is, can i get a problem with the 3.15 step (eg brick), when my console was shipped with a higher rev, which i dont know exactly...
