Does the type of External Hard Drive matter?
Does the type of External Hard Drive matter? –

I received my E3 Card Reader Wed, and began making backups of my disks for ease of use onto a WD Mybook 1TB hard drive. (Current Hermes payload from the E3 site.)
I've installed Gaia manager and Multiman (plus a couple homebrew options such as a genesis emulator and FBA emulator) and nothing loads from my external. Everything copies over fine, and when I run a check on the games it shows no problems.
The only odd man out is Demon Souls, which will load under Gaia, but give an error about accessing Trophy Data and ask to be reinstalled.
Should I just uninstall everything and redownload? Is my HD to blame?

if the games read then it's not the HDD, just one game sound like compatibility or permissions, try the fix permissions app for PS3 or maybe it's just needs the patch option in the manager

the issue for external HDD are the ff:
-- Too long USB cable (make sure that you dont use too long USB cable... use a standard 1 meter cable to attain maximum performance)
-- HDD activity timeout. (make sure to disable this when using it to PS3.. External HDD tends to spindown if the certain time reach of no activity)
------------
make sure you disable direct boot.. since it causes games to not work... (mostly but some games may work)

Standard USB cable. Is the HDD activity option in the system settings menu? I've been looking and cannot see it.

It's one game semi-working, the rest lock the system up and I have to do a hard reset.
Going to fiddle with it a little more and see what happens...

Re-flashed the firmware to the card then re-installed the backup managers and everything works like a dream now... Thanks for the help.

good to hear, I was going to suggest payload (E3 FW) but I thought no, that's what I get for thinking
