The PS2 part of my life has lived longer than I've expected I love my classic games very much and all the people who have kept it possible to let me play these great game 1 more time every single day.
But let me say this Piracy ASIDE.. Would PS2 emulation be Possible on Non B/C PS3 models speaking from a Technical stand-point and would you actually care if it never made it on to the PS3 scene.
/discuss.

I would say that it is EXTREMELY unlikely that PS2 emulation will ever work on non-BC models. The PS3 just isn't powerful enough, unless an extremely optimized emulator could be written. It certainly won't be as simple as porting PCSX2 over. This is something that even Sony didn't/couldn't make work. Just use your PC for PS2 emulation. Or just use a real PS2 (c'mon, they're really cheap now.)

.....say, what p-hiddy? List when the Playstation 3 was released, the technology was so new that it cost more to make a Playstaion 3 than it could be sold for, thus making Sony a loss on every sale. To reduce this loss, Sony began looking at options to reduce this cost, namely by getting rid of non-essential technology. Now because the old Playstation 3's basically had a Playstation 2 inside them too, they removed this first, thus reducin production costs by roughly $130 a unit. Although they still make a loss on every unit, it is not as great. Perhaps when the current technology has aged, and it makes a profit, they will offer a Playstation 3 with backwards compatibility again.

From what I read long time ago, Sony took out a chip that emulates the PS2. I belive that a PS2 emulator is possible, dev just got to use the right libs and coding so it wont lang.
