Do I need to FTP anything if I use internal hard drive?
Do I need to FTP anything if I use internal hard drive? –
I've been trying out OM 2.1 and I had a couple questions that I couldnt find the answers to.
I have PS3Key v4 and use the internal HD only
1) Do I ever have to mess with FTP if I use internal HD only? If so, what for? I've seen people recommend copying a game from internal to external and then back. Why on earth?
2) Can someone point me to a post that describes patched mode? What exactly does it do? Is it I am trying to play EyePet with Move. I've seen posts that explain that you have to use patched mode. I understand that you just hit R2 to set the mode in OM. Do I need to set patched mode during the rip and during play?
Any help would be appreciated!

1) There are several reasons but as you mentioned, one reason would be if you needed to copy the game from your Internal to External. Why? Well if you rip your game from the blu-ray to your internal HDD and want to keep a backup on your computer - using the FTP would be handy. You also need to FTP if you're installing a PSN PKG file. For certain games, just installing the .PKG file isn't enough - you need to copy the folder into some directory on your internal HDD via. FTP.
2) I'm not entirely sure about how patch mode exactly works but basically it has been integrated into newer payloads by people like Hermes and pretty much just fixes compatibility issues with certain games (some of the newer ones I believe). Hitting R2 or whatever button on backup managers enables this mode for the specific game and then you just start it up (you will only require this when you play the game).
