DNS trick soon not working?
DNS trick soon not working? –

Hello everyone, ever since 3.56 was released, I've been using the DNS trick on 3.55 Kmeaw and it's been working fine. Today, while playing Demon's Souls I've been getting some d/c's from PSN (and no it's not my internet). The latest d/c also mentioned it was a DNS error, although after a few tries it reconnects again. (atm of typing this, I've been connected for about 10-15 min since last d/c). Was wondering if someone else is getting d/c'ed or if it's just me :P

The dns trick will be fixed soon. In the past they fix it after 1-2 weeks, so enjoy it while you can.
I think they are busy atm because of fixing the hdd issue with 3.56.

As most of us work for sony and have crystal balls we can clearly say that you are a retard.

I wonder how anyone can know with 100% certainty that it isn't their internet? While it's working it's working when it stops it will stop, it is as simple as that.

Don't know who that was pointed to and don't really care.

Exactly what does the DNS trick do? What is it that makes it work?

It allows you to still connect to PSN and thus play online on 3.55 Kmeaw by telling your system that you're on the latest fw, even though 3.56 was already released.

If you think that is a good guide line you need to learn more, a fault that can knock you off the PS3 may not even register as a slight blip on your PC.

If you want specifics on what it does, it redirects calls to
fus01.ps3.update.playstation.net
to itself, and then replaces the contents of
http://fus01.ps3.update.playstation....updatelist.txt
with the following
Code:
# US
Dest=84;CompatibleSystemSoftwareVersion=0.0000-;
Dest=84;ImageVersion=00000000;SystemSoftwareVersion=0.0000;CDN=http://someServer/update/ps3/image/us/2010_0422_6bdf1b2409d705a0136c40746c62e85d/PS3UPDAT.PUP;CDN_Timeout=30;
