The disc has been ejected... –
Hey all I am having an issue and was hoping someone could shed some light on it for me.
I haven't played my backups in a while (mainly use PS3 for Showtime now since I have less time to play) and I tried to play my backup of Alice:Return to Madness. And after a while of playing I received the message "The disc has been ejected. The game cannot continue. Please quit and restart the game."
And before anyone asks yes I do have a disc in there.
I believe this may be do to the game buffering the level, then I took too long in that section and the external HD spun down (went to sleep). When I first ripped the game I tested it, but I am now using a new external HDD (dont think I tested it beyond the game loading when I switched HDDs).
Has anyone received this error before? Am I right thinking it is sleep mode? Is there a solution for this?
I seem to remember reading something about changing the drive settings or maybe something in MM, but could not find the OP, and I also could not find and Toshiba Software to change it like I have for WD and Seagate drives. (Toshiba used to have one for desktop externals but it no longer works for newer drives, it doesn't even detect my drive)
The drive is a Toshiba Canvio 1 TB USB 3.0. Bought it a while ago so return for a better drive is not an option if problem is not resolved.
Thanks in advance!
That's probably the culprit. Not much you can do about it. The power saving is built into the drive enclosure. Short of putting your drive in a new older/cheap enclosure you're stuck with it. My only suggestion is if you're playing and you feel like it might spin down hit the PS Home button on your controller. Even if the drive is idle it does a quick check of it and will keep it spinning

Thanks for the help again!
I had the exact same problem with the EXACT same game lol. Also had this problem with ICO/Shadow of the Colossus when trying to play them from an external HDD. ICO would play for about 10 - 15 minutes and then just black screen. My external is a Toshiba Canvio 500GB USB 3.0. I could never find out how to turn off sleep mode on this drive (if it's even possible) using Toshiba's utilities for the drive. I eventually just ordered a 1TB internal HDD for my PS3 and never had anymore problems.
