Hi im just wondering if its safe to delete the un needed language files from my ps3 rips? For example God Of War 3 has the following which i dont need since i only speak english:

    DUTCH.PSARC
    FRENCH.PSARC
    GERMAN.PSARC
    ITALIAN.PSARC
    POLISH.PSARC
    PORTUGUESE.PSARC
    RUSSIAN.PSARC
    SPANISH.PSARC

They look to be the language files anyway and deleting those would save over 10%. Is it ok to just delete the files will it still work fine or do i need to do something special?

    Thanks!

I've been doing that to my games with no problems, I also deleted the publisher's start up logo file from Battle Fantasia and cut down the loading time from launch to title screen from 30 to 18 seconds. Something to consider for other games which have a multitude of different companies logos you're forced to sit through before you can start the game. Deleting the PS3 Update folder and language files from that game cut the file size in half from nearly 2GB to under 1GB.

Wow that's a great idea. FIFA World Cup is one that's particularly annoying on that front, but I'm not so sure all the logos it shows are video files, or just blended in so to speak.

Yeah, for Battle Fantasia you can't delete the Developer's logo as it's not a video file, only the publisher's can be deleted. So it's only possible to do on some games.

You should probably keep a copy of the file in case the game won't start without it. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't a problem for this game.

This is really good news, so the game just skips over the files that doesn't exist? I thought for sure that it would crash, at least if you messed with files that are used every time you start the game, such as intro screens and so forth.

If it crashes then dummying the files is the way to go

I can also confirm that ihave successfully removed language speech and video from the following games via FTP:

Elder scrolls : Oblivion (saved about 50% of the entire disc size!)
    Modnation
    Uncharted : Drakes fortune
    Assassins creed 2

I didn't use dummy files with any of them. I figured if I break any of them id just delete the game and re-rip with backup manager.

    Good luck with this everyone!

    Regards

You still need those files present , u can't just delete them. What you can do is delete them and create null files (empty files) with the same names

Try that see if it works
