    Hey all,

While running a maintanence app on my laptop after doing some game swapping to/from my Ext 320Gb hard drive, the app notified me that the HDD was like 63% fragmented!! I know that an occasional defragment on USB drives is okay in general and could even improve the performance a bit for regular PC usage, but wasn't for sure about defragging this one, since it's mainly plugged into my Kmeaw 3.55 PS3 aside from the occasional updating of games and stuff.

Anybody know if it IS safe to run defrag/maintenance on it? I would ASSUME so, being a typical FAT32 hard drive, but since PS3 games can be 40gigs+, and require accessing the drive constantly to play, I didn't wanna risk it w/o a lil research first...

So whaddya think, go for it and get a possible performance/capacity boost, or say **** it and leave well enough alone??

Oh, and I can't back it up and just go for it either. ATM, I'm really crunched for HDD space.
    Thanks,

    GH

I say go for it your right about performance and if you don't remove add a lot you HD will last longer with being defragmented less head seeking and searching for data

But with that much fragmentation going to take awhile and make sure you have a good program to do it with

    V10 SCPH-50001 with Network adapter SCPH-10281 500 G HD
    PSP 3000 9G 6.20 PRO CFW Perm
Unofficial FMCB v1.8C OPL self compiled HD and SMB preferred
Is how all good gaming systems came to be

    Cool.

Ya, being only (haha) 320gb when I first JB my PS3 I was ripping and transferring games like crazy, only to realize that 95% of them are crap and having to delete those to make room for more. Plus, its got sum backup data from my PC on it, so it is heavily relied upon performance AND longevity wise...

And I use TuneUp Utilities 2012 for my PC maintenance. Used previous versions for a cpl years due to it's many options and features. Just got 2012 version a cpl weeks ago but no problems using it on my laptop for any maint/optimizations.

Well, guess it's time to Nut Up or Shut Up now, haha!! I'll post again when done with any positive or negative results I got. :-/

    Thanks!

Oh and on a similar note...

Without looking up EVERY title ID for every folder listed, is there an easy way to cleanup the internal hard drive? Being able to install PSN games on 3.55 is awesome, but once again, most of them are CRAP. So after installing, testing, hating, and deleting, now there's temp files and folders left behind. Any 'Disc Cleanup' homebrew available yet (or ever??)

    Thx again,

    GH

I am trying to play at GOW2 (ps2) , trying to load it with Playstation 2 External Storage Device Game Loader (PS2ESDL) because OPS2L won't run it properly (freeze) but it says the game is fragmented. When i analyze my usb key on Win7 no fragmentation is detected, what do you suggest i do ?
