Data transfer utility 3.41 to new ps3
Data transfer utility 3.41 to new ps3 –
Hey guys I just got a new ps3 and I haven't checked the version yet.
It may be jailbreakable but I will assume it's not.
I want to use the data transfer utility to transfer all the stuff on my current 3.41 ps3 to the new one.
I'm mostly concerned over my demon's souls save and it seems like people are having trouble getting it to unlock.
Therefore my only option is to transfer 3.41 phat to the new slim and use the slim for PSN access.
How can I do this? I hear I have to deactivate my account on the phat before it will let me use data transfer utility. I can't do that without PSN access.
ps3 will give u the option to back up all your files to an external hard drive which included encrypted game saves but no trophies. then plug the external hdd into your new ps3 and restore it with the stuff on the external. It will tranfer literally everything even demos, except trophies, to your new ps3 making it feel like it is your old ps3.
i recommend deleting any demos u dont want before doing the backup or else it will take longer, mine took 2 hours
I had an unJB'ed ps3 fat on 3.41 and purchased a new slim on 3.40. I updated the slim to 3.41 and did the whole transfer deal except I couldn't sign in to deactivate the fat one first as recommended. After the tranfer, I updated the slim to newest (3.5 at the time) and synced trophies and all were there except for from one game. My new slim is now exactly like the old fat one was. I guess I'll just lose one "activation slot" from having never deacted my old fat one. The bought psn games on it no longer work now, either, but that doesn't matter.
If you restore backup file from the old PS3 to the new one, you can't use game saves from the old PS3 on the new one. It will ask you to delete the save file when you trying to load game saves.

now that i think about it I may have done it for a hard drive upgrade. it restored everthing from my old hdd to my new one.

Chad, thanks I guess I'll give that a shot. I just hope my slim isn't on 3.42.
