Couple questions before I get a pre-3.55 BC PS3 fat
Hey all, new member here as you can see. Been lurking for awhile though. I am somewhat new to the PS modding scene (I modded an old PSP slim a few years back, PSP-2000 model I think, but got rid of it awhile ago). I am used to modding Nintendo devices which is so easy a baby could do it.
Anyways, I have a friend who has a pre-3.55 backwards-compatible 80GB PS3 fat he is willing to sell me for a good price and I am looking into modding it, and have been doing lots of reading, but want to be sure of some things before I pull the trigger.
1) I understand that with 3.55 CFW and MultiMan I can play backups of my PS3 games from a USB device, so I won't have to bother with disks or worrying about the disc drive dying from constant use, correct?
2) This one is a bit trickier it seems. One of the main reasons I want a BC PS3 fat is to play PSX and PS2 games, some of my old favs as well as ones I never got around to beating (never beaten the Metal Gear games for example, can you believe it?). Can I use Swap Magic disks to play PSX and PS2 backups from a USB device? I've been finding a lot of conflicting info on this.
I really don't want to mess around with burning discs or modchips. If I have to use discs then I'll just keep OFW. As I said I am new to the PS3 modding scene so pardon my noobishness. Thanks in advance
