Copying trophies after internal drive upgrade?
Copying trophies after internal drive upgrade? –

I just swapped my original 60 gig internal drive with a new 320 gig one. I used the PS3's backup/restore utility to do the swap and most everything went smoothly. My PSN purchased games still work (I have a fat system) and all my saves copied over, even the protected ones and even ones from games I was running off of my external drive. However, none of my trophies copied.
I know the backup utility doesn't copy trophies, so before I swapped drives, I FTP'd into my original hdd and made a copy of the //dev_hdd0/home/00000002/trophy/ directory. After restoring with the PS3's restore utility, I FTP'd all those files back to my profile. However, none of those trophies show up now.
Is there any way to copy trophy data without syncing with PSN first? Would a complete FTP copy of the original drive to a reformatted new drive do the trick? Anybody successfully done this?

Thanks for the info! It didn't 100% work for me though. It increased my percentages from 0%, and I think also gave me all the trophies I had earned, but it also seemed to randomly throw in some extra ones I did not earn. The icons for the trophies themselves also have an issue loading. Maybe 1/3 of my unlocked ones display their icon while the rest just have a white lock icon. Not sure why that is. Did you have the same problems when you used your method?
What I did differed from your guide slightly in that I copied over the backed up trophy info before loading each game. If you didn't have the same problems I have, maybe I should just restore from my usb backup again and add the trophies one game at a time.

I have no issues with any of my trophies.
I differed a bit from that tutorial in that after I did the restore on the new hdd, I then copied all my trophies to the new hdd
I then did the steps 9-12 and it worked..
My trophies were all in the //dev_hdd0/home/00000001/trophy/ directory , the same as the tutorial.
