Converting Demo to Retail Help needed

Hi there. Im new to the site and have a question. I have a DEMO 3.50 ps3. I want to convert it. I am new to much of the modding, and want to know first of all if i can convert my 3.50 console to a retail one. Do I need to downgrade? How? If I can, could you provide a link to the files in the tutorals? I tried to follow both, but its a bit advanced for me. i also have a mac. Is there a way to modify a usb key as a dongle? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Much thanks in advance.

You can't modify a USB key into a dongle. They are completely different things. A regular USB drive does not have the micro controller on it or the ability to program your own code into it. You have to buy a dongle or upgrade to a CFW. On the other questions I'll allow someone with more experience in that department to elaborate further.

You can probably use some cellphones, mp3 players, or iphones that can be flashed to be used for ps3 groove. http://www.psjcl.com/psgroove.php
