It didn't answer your question? what part of "For those on 3.56 - NO Downgrade, NO Jailbreak and NO CFW!" did it not answer? Are you mentally slow?!...
I was asking whether firmware is part of a PS3 motherboard or part of just the hard drive.

OK you worded you question totally wrong I apologize for my response. Forgive me...
Don't know if this is possible... new to the ps3 scene of "reverse engineering" but i have read some of the older tricks that were used to install pkg's as well as cfw and downgrade. Now here's my idea .... first take a ofw pup we'll say 3.55 edit it (if possible) to make it look like a 3.56 pup... get a brand new hd install it in your ps3 boot your ps3 in recovery mode install modified pup.... then downgrade from there.... don't know how the installs of the pups actually work, what they do during install and how much they differ.... another thing could you install a signed pkg to install the option to install pkg's from the XMB using the old proxy redirection trick on ofw3.56? Just a couple of thoughts .... i have the ideas but unfortunately i don't have the knowledge... yet...![]()

Nope. Unfortunately, that's not enough.
3.56 revokes all the keys from 3.55.
hey cookie ... do you know any really good links that would help me understand what the pup installs do? or how i may find out on my own ... been trying to read as much as possible but trying to sort through all the insults, bashing, topic misdirection and reading the same question over and over.... makes things a little difficult... thanks in advance...![]()
