I pretty sure I know the answer already.

First of all I am a noob here (let the bashing begin), I got an amazebreak and went to downgrade from 3.55. I follow the instructions on amazebreak.cc and when I went to downgrade the ps3 just sat in factory service mode. Now I can't get out. Low and behold my ps3 was upgraded to 3.56. After reading through the posts I'm guessing I'm screwed until someone can figure it out. Is there anything I can do or do I just have to wait?

I know it must be really difficult to read through 200 some posts especially when you seem so desperate for an answer. Here's what you're looking for from page 17 and 18.

3.56/3.60= no jailbrake...ok!we got it!I understand that everyone here asks the same question...I do search before I post(always) BUT I ask
if 3.56 users(with the original firmware) must stay on 3.56 or it's the same if they go to 3.60 meaning that if a hack found after a year would fit only on 3.56 ps3 and not to 3.60.If it's already answered don't bother answering
Ps I am not desperate..!Just wanted linux on slim but I'll have to wait!

According to the devs, if you've already upgraded to 3.56, you're SOL. As all the keys have been revoked, there will be no way to install CFW on anything higher then 3.55. It's much like the JTAG exploit on the x360. Once you're above a certain dashboard version, you can't do the hack anymore. Not to say that someone may find the necessary keys for downgrading in the future, but my guess is, don't hold your breath.

Well as mentioned by some devs an exploit does exist in 3.56 and I'm assuming 3.60, some day other devs may find it and may show us and perhaps then a downgrader can be made. From what I can tell 3.56 and 3.60 offer really no "features" apart from hosting saves on PSN but who really wants to do that while trying to use linux and paying Sony for the feature. Point being 3.55 has all we need right now, those of us on 3.56 and up will just have to wait for a downgrader however unlikely that possibility may be.
