Hi!first post,so hello to everyone!
Since many people search for the 3.56 cfw or a downgrade method why don't you make this thread sticky?!
offtopic(legal issue):
sony(tries to kill it's product like it did with minidisks) force users to upgrade to the newest firmware by locking psn.BUT if something goes wrong and the ps3 cannot boot anymore isn't sony responsible for any damage and must repair the unit free of charge?
(just an opinion,if the admins want I'll open it to a new thread
)

Hi guys my little bro updated to 3.56 while I was away at college....just got back for spring break and found out about the ps3 jb from a freind. How long do you guys think it'll take for a possible downgrade? My ps3 is just connected to the internet using the DNS method for now..

Maybe never. Most devs are saying you need to be on 3.55 to update to any future cfw due to the lockdown in 3.56. Might as well trade your console for one with a lower firmware.

That doesn't sound too good..from what I've read since yesterday doesn't 3.60 contain the "new and secured" security system? Oh well here's hoping that a downgrade/3.56 cfw is released before spring break ends lol.

3.55 is going to be like the 360 jtag exploit there you need a dashboard before the pre 8xxxx dash (summer09 update) to do anything useful!
I think the ps3 scene will be the same pre 3.56 unless Geohot returns with new info "melter" is still there for access to lv0.2 but now it is signed with all the loaders inside using a truely random key like they did with the quick first update to the pkg loader the only way will be a new way to make our own signing keys which was never released before
Ohwell

It won't happen. The way the system is secured now is a lot harder to break into, then the way it was on 3.55. Hence why you have to be on 3.55 to upgrade to new CFWs. The devs will remove all the whitelists, revoked keys, etc in 3.60 and rebuild it with the data from 3.55, but you won't be able to flash the CFW unless you're on 3.55 because if you already have 3.56/3.60 then all the necessary keys have already been revoked. The only chance you have is to wire up a NAND/NOR flasher, have a backup from before you upgraded to 3.56/3.60, and restore it on your system.

Is that magic key Geohot still has and not released still good for anything now?
Hail to the Commodore 64

Not trying to sound like an a** but that is all speculation on your part right? I know nothing about what you just said lol but in essence, they *could* release CFW's for 3.56 or 3.60 like they did for 3.55 right?

so essentially we have full access on CFW 3.55 ?
if a new game needs a new function , can't we "emulate" it ?
PS2 SCPH-770004 :: running freemcboot 1.8 :: OPL/SMB
