But *why*?
Why on earth do we (we as in the ps3 scene) need a 3.56 custom firmware?
Is there some homebrew you're not able to run? Are you backup managers suddenly requiring to run in 3.56?
We currently have the ability to run just about anything on our ps3s right now under 3.55 - i simply don't understand why there is anyone who feels there is a real and actual NEED for a 3.56 cfw.
If you want to have your cake and eat it too (homebrew and psn) - BUY A 2ND PS3.

We don't *need* one, but here are a few good reasons anyway:
1 - Because Sony has laid down the challenge with their latest measures to stop homebrew. Hackers hack, it's what they do, so why not?
2 - It could be only a matter of time before not having a 3.56 CFW at least makes things less than ideal for homebrewers (like new consoles coming with it, new games requiring it as a minimum).
3 - The steps necessary to crack 3.56 may pave the way for future CFW's.
4 - Some people are on 3.56 and a CFW or at least some sort of way to downgrade would possibly bring them into the cause. There is no harm in trying to cater for more users.
5 - And finally, because we (read: they, the talented hackers) can. Well, assuming they actually can.

NO 3.56 Downgrade
NO 3.56 Jailbreak

Excuse me? this is my thread and its stickied on here! it must be worth something! I know i have this one and 3.56 CFW = POINTLESS as well but it hasn't stopped n00bs for asking about downgrade or when/if there will be a 3.56 CFW….its two threads, one is explaining that there is no reason for 3.56 even though we are starting to see games on 3.56 like Dragon Age 2 which is already been modified to work on 3.55, and this one is explaining to the n00bs that there is no downgrade and they are stuck on 3.56 if they have it

As of 1/26/2011:
3.60 Now Live!
PS3 80GB Non-BC >> Waninkoko 3.55 >> Kmeaw 3.55>> Sold!

Removing a 3.56 OFW –
03-04-2011,04:29 AM
Is there anyway to remove a 3.56 OFW from the console, even if it means losing all my current data? PS3 with 5.56 is a real pain in my side. I want to be able to use HB and Hack tools, Modded Game Saves and the like.

The need for a 3.56 CFW is simple. Because millions of PS3 owners are stuck with the BSOB and no way to break open there console with the OFW 3.56 installed. A modded one is essential.

... And also because Sony will use the same key logarithms for the next firmware they'll develop.. since we weren't able to work with them.

Even if a 3.56 CFW was created, it couldn't be installed on 3.56 OFW systems do to the rejection of the keys, whitelists, etc etc. So, once again, 3.56 CFW is useless.

Devs are lazy asses, they work as soon as it is absolutly neccasary for them.
Atm they are sitting on 3.55 and enjoying the whole ps3 experiance, as soon as this situation changes, they will work on further firmwares.
And maybe someone has some ideas how to put out a new cfw - why in hell they should tell sony about these ideas? why not waiting, until sony does a new major firmware update and then kick sonys ass with new fw?
