yeah, obviously. So, welcome to the forums!
You can downgrade 3.56 to 3.55, but u need nand flasher for it (infectus e.g.) and usb jig stick. (teensy e.g.)
I'm sure if you contact Sony and tell them you are not happy and want 3.15 on it for other OS then surly they have to re flash it for you as you did not accept the TOS?
Or at least get a full refund for the PS3 system as it is not what you purchased or agreed to?
Just my 2 cents to anyone that wants a 3.56 custom firmware......
if you want it so you can have psn, tough that just isnt the way it should work. Sony may not have a right to tell me what i can do with my own hardware, but when it comes to getting on their network i fully support their right to control who has access to it.
if you want 3.56 because you upgraded because you didnt know 3.55 CFW was available, or your kid brother flashed it while you were at work or any of these things..... yes it was a mistake, yes it sucks, no there isnt anything you can do to salvage that PS3. well short of some serious tech bench work but since your wanting a 3.56 CFW im guessing you dont have the skills or desire to attempt this.
this leaves one option. back up your saves (there are ways of importing them to different systems now) format the internal hdd and SELL IT. dont do the lame thing and buy a new one and take the old one back to Wal-mart. you made the mistake, or allowed it to happen own up to it and do whats right. sell it on craigslist/ebay/classified ads etc. sure you wont get as much as you want for it, and no way will it cover the cost of a new one. but it will help pay for it at least. remember it was YOUR fault.
another good idea is upgrade the hard drive before you sell it. its a gamble but if it doesnt pay off then just keep the new drive and use it in the new ps3.... i would have to imagine a 640GB PS3 would sell fairly well on ebay or craigslist compared to the 160s and 320's etc. i dont know if it will make the difference or not but i got my 640 for around $50 on newegg, it coul make a big difference to some people that have a lot of games deal with storage issues and just want a system that works.
you might even get one for the same price if you look in those places to buy a PS3...however if you do be sure to contact the seller and ask firmware number ylod problems etc. Be smart and youll be back on 3.55 in no time, someone will have a psn capable PS3.
thats my $0.02
Technomancer
ps. please be responsible no one wants to get home with their nice new PS3 only to find out its an old used one, how would you feel if it happened to you?
until there is a compelling reason to go to 3.56, i wouldn't expect much work to be done in terms of a cfw.
Besides, is there anything (short of using psn :P ) that you cannot currently do on 3.55 cfw?
i didn't think so.
Why or why do people keep making new 3.56 threads, Ohwell thank god we have a merge feature!
Hey all,
I hope I have the right area for posting this. I have not personally confirmed this, so someone with a test unit if they could confirm that would be awesome.
A buddy of mine got home from work yesterday and somehow his PS3 forced him to reboot and installed 3.56 after I modded it for him to 3.55 a couple weeks ago. I thought I disabled his autoupdate but maybe a game he was playing tried to get him to upgrade? Anyway, he went to panic mode. He used the 'restore factory defaults' option. He lost everything on his PS3. However, it restored to his factory default firmware rather then 3.56.
He then went and modded it back to 3.55.
Now, I haven't confirmed this because I have WAY too much stuff on my HDD. But if someone has a test unit they could use to confirm this it would be awesome. I'd like to think he isn't full of shit. But if this does indeed work, this would be kick ass.
I'm sorry but it's possible ur friend mistakenly thought he went to 3.56....
He wasnt on 3.56.
