You would need a HDMI to VGA + Audio cable. Basically it has a HDMI head on one side and the other side is a VGA and audio output (3.5mm). I'm pretty sure you can get one off eBay for a good price. Also remember that it won't be able to output HD quality signals simply because you're downgrading to older technology.

I found this post on another forum.

Don't waste your money!! I've already tried this and it didn't work. If you look very carefully at your onilne users manuel it says that any monitor that is not HDCP compliant will not take the signal from an HDMI to DVi cable. This is because HDMI is high-bandwidth and most computer monitors today will only accept 31.5Khz of the bandwidth in question. But by all means, if you have an HDCP monitor, do the damn thing. Just wanted to let you know before you do anything drastic.

My moniter does have HDCP but does that mean i have to use DVI and not VGA?

i build something like this for my slim ps3 http://psx-scene.com/forums/showpost...56&postcount=3 (GS Mode Selector: Development & Feedback)

it were supposed to for the ps2 but since both console has the same pinouts i'd still work. Your monitor should support sync on green, but you won't have any problems if your monitor is not that old.

my moniter says "SOG" so i guess its sync on green
    * Sync Type: Separate H/V, Composite H/V, SOG

6FT VGA to 3 RCA component video cable + 3-RCA RGB Coupler for Component Video Cable Extension

that would display video on my monitor but how could i get sound to pc speakers?

DVI and VGA aren't terribly different I believe so it shouldn't be a problem (not 100% sure though). Also in regards to the other poster, you could always roll with component cable to VGA (since you are also provided with a PS3 component cable) and yeah...that should definitely be more compatible.

What resolutions the component->VGA adapter supports on PS3?
