I have a fat ps3 (CECHH01) that bricked updating to Rogero 4.21 v1.09. I have an E3 flasher on the way, but I am a little confused as to whether I need to solder the tristate on the mobo.

In most cases that I have read, the soldering was done because the ps3 powers on and then off again quickly, and the soldering prevents this. My ps3 will turn on and stay on until I turn it off. My issue is that the usb ports now have no power, so I cannot use a dongle.

So the question is, do I need to solder the tristate to point on the E3 cable, or can I solder the tristate to another 3.3v point on the mobo, or do I need to solder at all?

    Thanks for the help.

if the ps3 stays on, just make a dump (12 down, 3 up, 456 down) then patch it for normal downgrade, then flash it with switches 1 up and 23456 down. be sure to keep the dump named "bkpps3.bin". then enter FSM and install rogero v3.7 the FSM way

the only reason you solder up tristate is to hault the system, which in turn... like you said... keeps it from shutting down. if it does not shut down and the usb ports dont work.... then its pretty much haulted, wouldnt you think?
    XD

if using flow rebuilder to patch your dump, i suggest either manually doing it, or uploading it so someone can manually patch it for you. i have had issues with flowrebuilder and have fixed the issue by manually patching the dump (which is pretty easy btw) .... also, do not trust the e3 dump checker tool. it throws false positives and is well known road to brick town.

once you get your e3 just upload the dump to mediafire, ill check it out and patch it for you, and help you flash it back

Thanks for the response. I should have the flasher installed in the next couple of days (depending on my work schedule) and I will let you know what happens.

just be sure you get a good connection between the clip and NOR and the ribbon connector on the e3 itself.

you dont even need the hdd or the bluray drive hooked up while your dumping / flashing. once you have flashed the console, you ofcourse will want to hook the hdd back up

I could leave the E3 in couldn't I? I would just have the hdd in the drive cradle (I got a limited edition e3).

Finally got the E3 - will be installing it this weekend. I did make 4 dumps of the NOR before the console bricked. Can those be used or should I still do a NOR dump from the E3 and patch it?
