someone else had also 10mb/s, got it up to 25mb/s by doing something to his ftp client.
this is why i'm wondering if i'm able to increase my speed, too.

Do you have an gigabit connection? My speeds are so random, I've dedicated to put everything on timeout, until my pci network card comes. The highest speeds I've reached was 7mb/s, and when I've tried to transfer NBA 2K11, it went down to 1mb/s. I ordered a card immediately, and didn't do anything else with my system.

I was using the original ftp server, so maybe that was the reason. The thing is I've always use that ftp, so who knows.

well mins too 10 mb/s thats mean you are using Network Ethernet up to 100mbit/s
to get more speed you have to get a card with gigibite and cat6 cable .

10MB/s is about my average speed as well, I find it'll go faster if I set FileZilla to only upload 1 file at a time, but honestly, even at those speeds either blackb0x or FileZilla is not very stable. I am always finding though FileZilla reports sending files successfully, file sizes and even locations aren't what/where they should be.

I'm fine with a slow speed as long as the job's done right the first time. I'm tired of going back in and cleaning up the mess. It happened last night with Castlevania, all transfers reported success but some files that should have been in the USERDIR were in the root folder. Weird, but I can't really point to the culprit just yet.

I have to keep it in perspective though, look at what I've got. Modded PS3 with backup games and HD loading. Hard to complain, this is all still pretty new. Growing pains...

Thanks for that suggestion, like I said I just discovered that problem and haven't yet spent the time to research alternatives. I appreciate your recommendation and I'll try it tonight.

i decided to buy a new lan cable, problem is that i know nothing about them.
could someone tell me which one would be best for a ps3 <-> pc and pc <-> router connection?

    Cat.6, AWG28, 1Gbps / Patch cable: S/FTP / 250 MHz

    or

    Cat.7, AWG26, 10Gbps / Patch cable: S/FTP / 600 MHz
