Clarification on Newer Games Running on 3.55CFW
Clarification on Newer Games Running on 3.55CFW –

Hi,
Am I correct in saying that newer games that run on firmware such as 3.56+ can be run on 3.55 CFW if an update for the game is released that has been encrypted using 3.55ofw keys.
If so, would it be possible to create a 'fake' game update using 3.55 keys in order to run 3.73 games such as saints row 3?

I presume you could if you had the eboots source code and official PS3 sdk. Not sure you'd find any PS3 game source code anywhere for about 8-10 years (stuff usually gets leaked eventually, but not for a long time)

I thought the official SDK was leaked not that long ago?

The 3.60SDK was, but you need the actual source so you can compile a unencrypted eboot, then sign it with the 3.55 keys

Short answer is no. You need either the source code (not likely), or the 3.72 keys(not happening either).
