Clarification on game "addons"

I am slightly confused on this process.

in order to install the Outlaws add-on for Red Dead Redemption do I simply need to follow the guides that discuss using Demo Manager for "retail game updates"?

Or is there a different process for installing the add-on to games?

Just curious what the process is for game addons, not necessarily updates.

Outlaws for Red Dead is DLC not update patch. You need to search for PS# Retail PSN links

But yeah same thing...and ONLY if you're using older payloads. This has been implemented in newer payloads to load directly from usb stick root directory.

and what about file permissions? yes, we can install DLC, but can we play it?

so with PSF mod that i believe is currently using PL3, i should be able to place the .pkg file that is on PS3news for the outlaws DLC, and "install" the package similar to other packages?

then where does the outlaws addon/game go?
