sorry if this has been asked or covered in some other way, i did search to no avail.
from my knowledge service mode can somehow allow you to change your BD rom 'key', allowing you to change your drive with another.

i picked up a used ps3 for cheap, but soon found out that it had the wrong BD drive installed.
so my question, have these tools been released or leaked?

Yep, it's the downgrade tools. It will rewrite the key in your NAND and on the blu-ray drive and it should start working again.

Edit: Run through the downgrade process and when you flash the firmware it will do the above.

there have been conflicting reports about remarrying a bd drive to your ps3.
So you could try it yourself access service mode/Factory mode then downgrade to 3.41 assuming your on 3.50...test it and post the update log

Try just doing a downgrade in place if you're on 3.41 already. Meaning, use the modified 3.41 PUP file as you "downgrade" without updating to 3.50. Not sure if it'll work, but it's worth a try.

You can stay on same firmware, just flash the 3.41 again with service mode with jig.
    It should do the trick.

Just got a 60gb PS3 from ebay today and swapped drives over with a YLOD 60gb PS3 that I fixed. It didnt work so I just swapped over the logic boards from the drives. Now it works fine

    [edit1]

Make sure that it's the same board type. make sure it's the correct laser. I've tried a few different boards in the one im testing. but it's possible everyone i have is bad.

Discs do not load, and i can not run homebrew Files in JB mode. (black screen)

Im going to try it now without Loading the SELF file, and normal PUP but within Service mode.
