    Hello,
I really appreciate all the developers who work on Custom Firmwares.
(Even if I haven't installed a CFW yet.)

However, many players are a bit upset that Sony hasn't implemented many features for a while.
Security patch here, security patch there.

I thought that now (that it's possible to create CFWs) some developers could add some new features.
(I don't know how difficult it is - I'm not an expert.)

Well, some things I really miss in the official firmwares:
    - I cannot get rid of things I don't need: (PlayStationStore, PSN, Friends, Savegames Minis etc.)
    - I cannot create playlists for my movies
    - sorting Demos, PSN games alphabetically only works with a work-around (check my sig)
    - and some other things I don't remember right now...

Of course it would be best to allow users to enable/disable the icons.
Some players go online with their CFW, others don't do it.

Do you thing such changes (and others) are possible or would it be too difficult?
I mean there are plenty of things possible, and if some one manages it to create a CFW that adds new features, he could update it again and again, without to add these new features again.
(But I guess you already know that, so it's nothing new.)

    Thanks for reading!

What do you think all the CFW's we've seen are doing, if not adding new features?

If there is one feature I am looking foreward to, it's plugin support. I can see PS3 CFWs going similar to PSP CFWsw ith a VSH menu and recovery menu.

They activate the things that a Jailbreak stick does.
Those features are not really new.

cfw on the console scene when mixed with online play becomes very thin with features. the only thing that will be developed is the ability to play backups better and stealthier. after those are straightened out then development branches out.

It's a bit too early in the scene for all that cool homebrew stuff. The first wave is always driven by backup support, and to a lesser extent the emulator nuts (count me in that one). It also takes a long time to develop so you never know who is working on what behind the scenes. I'm betting a lot of people are waiting to see how the war with Sony is going to turn out first though.
