CFW and Warranty

Hi! I've a PS3 CECH-2504B 320 GB with natively 3.50. It's NOT downgradable by any method e then I would like to install Kmew's CFW. The question is: if in the future (in the 2-year warranty) I'll have a problem, Sony manages to discover that once I installed a CFW so I will void the warranty? (of course the ps3 will be sent to support diskless). Thanks

Yup, your warranty will technically be voided as soon as you flash the CFW, and i have no doubt that if that unit were sent back to Sony for any reason, they'd be able to tell.

Ok, and is the same with dongle (PSGROOVE) or in this case there is no trace?

I've sent a bricked ps3 to sony and got a new one 30 days after still on 3.40.. guess it does pay up to be in europe.. here's what I think happened.. since according to my country's law they've got 30 days t replace a product while still under warranty I belive they didnt even realise why the ps3 was sent back to them and just shipped a new one.. I also did it with a couple of psp's back in the day and no issues, its been two yrs so I dount they'll hunt ppl for it.. ehehe

I don't think it voids warranty, i mean you haven't opened it up, so how can you break it?

Read the EULA you agree to when you install stock ps3 firmware.

Modifying the system software WILL void your warranty.

Your farting about with the software on the system, of course it voids warentee, its a closed system.

I dont understand why people seem to think they can do stuff like this and have Sony repair it if it fails.

End of the day if OFW fails its Sonys fault, if CFW fails its YOUR FAULT and you only have youself (or waninkoko) to blame

If you do get it repaired I would consider myself lucky and be more careful next time with the firmware.

Unless you're planning to use the jb dongle and NOT load any homebrew or backup managers (and what would be the point of that?), then no, they'll know even then.

You just need to accept the fact that console hacking always means your warranty is gone.

If you're sending it in for Warranty work - why not just reflash it back to the 3.55OFW?
