CFW total noob question, but could help a lot of us out –
Okay, so I have ordered a jb dongle and am waiting for it to arrive, my ps3 is currently on 3.41fw.
My questions are:
1) Do I need to have a jb dongle in order to flash the CFW on my ps3? From all I am reading it seems I do, just want to re-confirm it.
2) Should i keep my ps3 on 3.41 and wait for my dongle to arrive? Or is it okay for me to update to the official sony 3.55 now?
Thank for any replies and help, I do appreciate it!
No you don't need a dongle to do the flash , but if you want to stay on 3.41 then use the dongle , soon there will be a 3.55 cfw (stable) where u won't need a dongle anymore. You can update to the offcial 3.55 if u want , but at the moment backupmanagers ain't working well , so have to be a bit patient until devs make them work hope this helps u

2)You might as well stay on 3.41 since you bought the dongle already, then you can use it to jailbreak your console. You can pretty much do what those CFWs do, but with better compatability and no issues.
Thank you both, I do appreciate it! I am patient, so I have no problem waiting for a more stable version of a CFW. And, apparently my dongle wont be here for about 2 weeks.
If I don't need a dongle, however, how would I put the CFW on? From what I was reading you had to get the ps3 into a system menu or something? And I thought you needed the jb dongle for doing that? And, I also thought you needed the jb dongle to put the backup managers on the ps3?
Have I completely mis-read everything???
