A friend of a friend setup an old PS3 I bought for cheap and I realized he really didn't know what he was doing as the MM was 1.06.00 or something really old. However I did get 2 full 2tb drives so i'm ready to go, but I read that the 40gb units fail often so I picked up a few slim that are 3.55 or under. Is this guide still the way to go? Also once your done what this guide do you simply install the latest MM?
Seems like there is a tools and apps, but no info on what they do and why they are helpful. Is there a FAQ or newb guide that shows what apps are what.
On a side note does anyone know where you can get a tru blue that takes Paypal I don't have a credit card :(

OK, seem to be stuck jail breaking my v4.11 PS3.
I’ve spent the past week visiting several sites and forums finding this site the most helpful but still no success.
Process as shown in thread - CFW Kmeaw + OFW 3.55 + Managers ready to install pack
I’ve downloaded the both ofw3.55 as well as Kmeaw cfw 3.55 (from several locations) and placed them in the appropriate dirs. On my flash drive – tried the two files separately. I verified the md5 with a md5 verification app. With this in hand, I followed the reset procedure to access the upgrade menu (double reset and two beeps). The upgrade system kicks in and reads the data on the drive put reports it as corrupted. None of my attempt to upgrade succeeded.
What do I need to do differently?
