CFW independent of sony
CFW independent of sony –
01-27-2011,09:37 AM
hello
i don't know if it's possible but my idea to beat sony forever is to make a cfw independent of them
i mean that all cfw now depent of the sony's ofw
if someone make his cwf totaly independent of sony then the ps3 will be really open at all and sony can do anything
is it possible or not i don't know but i hope that someone will think about this idea
regards

that would be nice but all sony will do like they did when people where using 3.41 would make it so all new games would require certain firmware and same with online. i doubt this is possible at the moment
Jap Console/Wutang+Geohot patch CFW 3.55/Gaia Manager 2.04/WD 500gb HDD

I hit the reply button and started typing something similar to this, then thought "Nah, it's not worth it." Glad someone posted it though
The closest thing to this would be running Linux on our consoles, but of course none of the pirates want that, as none of them actually care about the freedom to modify consoles we own as we see fit, they just care about being able to steal games.
Anyway, nothing in this thread makes sense. There'd be no incentive to "developing our own CFW" as opposed to modifying Sony's. As has been said time and time again, if you want to get on PSN, don't jailbreak.

Hope you have ALL documentation os the PS3 architecture at hand, plus a team of developers dedicated to it... 'Cause to be "free of Sony" you will need to write your CFW from scratch, no code reciclying or whaterver.
It's as easy as writing an OS for a PC from the ground up, with the exception that the PC is a well documented and open plataform, while the PS3... well, ask $ony and IBM for some "tips"...

This Open source OS thing was tried on the PSP, It was called utopia I think, it was abandoned due to lack of input and knowlage of the base system.
The PS3 is a WAY more complicated machine and would require a MASSIVE amount of code, time and effort to get games working, even badly. The New NOR flashed AsbestOS is written from the ground up but that took tonnes of time, just to load a linux kernal natively.
Open source OS thats like GameOS, Not gonna happen.

I love the fact that everyone has these grand ideas with no idea what they're talking about. All I've seen today is 'I' and 'we' in regards to making a new CFW for 3.56 and yet these people have no idea and no skills. I'm not saying that I've done anything, but I have a good understanding of the complexities involved.
Thanks for the ideas but if you can't do it then don't ask the devs and just STFU.

Well said!
In fact so well said I'm going to take that and put it as a sig, you should be honoured as sigs are normally pathetic (imo)...but this is so true here it's not even funny.
PSX-Scene is full of stupid twats with their "ideas"...most of these people don't even have the application skills.
People here are so stupid they sound more idiotic than 8 year old kids who's ideal job is to be an astronaut.
