which CFW and how? –
03-14-2011,02:06 PM
Hey, ive been looking around for a tutorial, saw it a while back, it explained what CFW's were available and what not, cant seem to find it anymore....
Currently im using a Hermes v4 on an Xplain board on FW 3.41...
With all the new CFW's that are available, which one should i use and how do i go about installing it...
was it something along the lines of 3.41>OFW3.55>CFW 3.55 via recovery??
Cheers

something 'along those lines'
actually, that's pretty much all you do, really.
Most people are using 3.55 Kmeaw here, as far as i can tell.
It's very reliable but stuff like PSN access and spoofers will need to be added by you.
'The only real difference' (cmiiw) between Kmeaw and WaninkokoV2 is that Waninkoko's doesn't require any extra payload for running backups, but then again, installing a payload (like BDEMU.pkg for multiman) is done in 1 click and only has to be done once.
The only other alternative i'd know is that PSITA cfw, which allows for PSN access, but that's also possible via other means.
i'd go with Kmeaw. Widest userbase, hence pretty much any homebrew released will run on that one.

You shouldn't even need that guide.
it's easy as
1. Install OFW 3.55
2. Install your Kmeaw CFW
If you wanna play backups:
3. Install MultiMan (get the latest version from the multiman thread)
4. Install BDEmu.pkg (search for it)
That's all there is to it, really.
