CFW is great and all...but we need hacked save files NAO!
CFW is great and all...but we need hacked save files NAO! –
Now that the CFW hurdle has been passed, I would really like to see "locked saves" get some love. I have save files on another profile that I would like to use for my main profile, but the save files are locked to their originating profile. This is the most frustrating thing ever lol. I know that the save files are supposedly heavily encrypted, but I hope that one day someone will come along that can tear these saves to shreds.
PLEASE no messing around with the save files!!
With the PSN access right now, nobody wants to have CHEATERS playing online!!
Trust me, I don't want cheats being enabled for online games either(offline-only games are ok). I just want locked save files to be "unlocked", as in, no longer locked down to a specific profile.
I'd only want this for rpgs.
You can already transfer saves, here's how... say you have a save of FFXIII on a profile called user 1 and you want to use it on user 2.
1. Create a new save on user 2.
2. Use Comgeine's or ftp to transfer the save from user 1 and and your new save from user 2 to your pc.
3. Take the param.sfo from the save from user 2 and put it into the save from user 1.
4. Now using comgeine's or ftp transfer that modified save to the savedata folder for user 2.
5. Run game, load save.
This method should work for all games to date and you can sometimes use saves from a different region as well. Also you wont be able to transfer the modified save back onto the ps3 using the xmb.
Whoa, thanks! I didn't know this(obviously, lol). Appreciate the reply.

Short Answer: No.
Long Answer: Nooooooooooooooo.
I dropped a Two Worlds 2 save into an SFO editor, just to mess around. I have no coding skills or anything.
Anyway, I was tinkering around and managed to change the description that pops up when "hovering" over the save. See pic below. I wanted to load it up to see if it changed anything in-game(I really didn't think it would, but eff it). However, upon trying to copy the file back over to the ps3, it says the save file is corrupted. I was going to ftp it back to the ps3 but did not know where to look.
I thought it was in the:
dev_hdd0/home/00000002(2nd user profile)/savedata/BLES00845_AUTOSAVE_001
I placed it there via ftp but no save file showed up when I exited blackb0x.
