CFW or Dongle –
07-15-2011,03:45 PM
Hi everyone,
I have a question thatīs been bothering me for a while. I have a PS3 Slim on 3.41. I do have a PS3Break dongle. The thing is, when I use the dongle, my PS3 works perfectly with all my games, but the trouble of the Power/Eject thing to start the dongle, made me go and test CFWs. Iīve tested Hermes 3.41, Kmeaws 3.55, Rebug 3.55. Now the real question is: When I tested all these CFWs, some games started to have some BDEMU problems, like Video and Audio sometimes glitches, where the most evident ones are on GOW, Spider-man SD and Mortal Kombat. There are some freezing and looping on video and audio, which when I had the dongle didnīt occur. Should I turn back to the dongle, or am I doing something wrong with the CFWs thatīs making me have this experience. Or is the QA Flag with OFW stops these glitches?
Thank you very much.

I have GOW3 and Mortal Kombat running fine off my internal with Multiman 2.0.1, bdemu2, and 3.55 kmeaw. The first time i backed up MK to my internal it would freeze all the time. So I deleted it, formatted an external, xfered from pc to external and then external to internal through comgenie and it works perfect now. I have been able to fix games that are known to work by simply re copying them onto a freshly formatted drive. Im guessing the actual backup is a bad rip and there are no problems with the software or payload.
edit: actually now that i remember, GOW3 has some audio problems, i havent played too far into it (hack n slash games dont hold my interest too long) but right in the beginning when you are on that big tree dude climbing the mountain, there is a cutscene where he starts talking (im guessing complaining) and there is no audio for his voice. But all the other audio for the other characters works...its weird

I would definately go for 3.41 MFW. I am rocking one I created with PSMFW builder and it works great with MM + BDEMU2. Then only time I have issues is with large games from usb lag (all my games are on an external) though these issues were around even when I used my dongle. The way I figure is that 3.41 can play all games that the 3.55 CFW can (wih modded eboots of course) but this way if anything comes out for 3.41 only (like the cobra dongle/payload) though someone will prob port it to 3.55 but this way there is not a need to downgrade if it is 3.41 only.

Ok, I've tried all of this with no success. The only thing I'm able to think of is that the HDMI is making these glitches, since its not possible other games work perfectly. The only solution I could think of is that I have to use the AVC when playing these games, then the freezing and looping stops. It seems that old games are having trouble in transmitting the HDMI and then the video stays back at the audio track. I'll keep doing some more tests to try to figure this out better. I've make the resolution on HDMI lower as 420p and the games starts perfectly but doesnt last long, thats how I figured it out.
Thanks for the help
