RSOD, Help Please! –
02-07-2013,04:45 AM
My 3.55 CFW still has the RSOD from the time I joined this site until now. And i still haven't figured out why it got it or how. But when I first got it, I used the HDD in it a lot and the guy i got it from bought it when the firmware on it was 2.xx i dont know exactly but so the HDD is pretty old and its only a 80gb. But when I first got it i instantly installed Comgenies Awesome File Manager and was just clicking on random things because i didnt know what i was doing and i was always changing patches for mw2 and some of the call of dutys and just constanlty messin around with the HDD. Then after awhile i started getting ghost apps after deleting homebrew and then thats when I got it for the first time. And i still always change things in the HDD, and its getting to the point where, if I wanna save offline profile for call of duty or something I have to go into FSM mode just to do it, also I was always doing data transfers. But I thought the reason i could be getting the RSOD was from the NOR or FLASH but whenever I would run FSM it would be successful. So im wondering if I ran the HDD so much, its at the end of its life span or the NOR or FLASH. Do you think if i changed the HDD would solve this problem or no? And isnt rare for a ps3 to have a bad or faulty NOR?

Im sure others will give you there opinion but its due to Bad blocks on the flash chip.
There is software to try to repair it but it always comes back.

It doesnt help, but it says its successful everytime? Thats another reason I think it could be the Hdd, the ps3 is quite old.

ok try this then, its how i fixed a rsod once.
download this pup
3.55 notherOS rsod.PUP <--- install in FSM
then download toggle QA.pkg here:
toggle qa.pkg
after you install rsod pup and your ps3 is booting to the xmb ... install toggle qa.pkg and run it.
then turn off the ps3.
while in FSM, run the lv2diag.self (rsod fix).
then exit fsm with this:
Exit FSM lv2diag.self
then install this from recovery
