I thought my console was already updated to 3.56, but installing my fathers Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 prompted me to install 3.56.
Now that gave me a smile because I knew I wasn't locked out, so I stopped the installation and thought about giving cfw's a try.

The problem is, I only want to use it for emulators and stuff, not for pirated games and the console is also shared with someone who isn't even able to install a game. Which raised two questions.

    1. As I only play legally bought games, will it be more complicated to use them with the cfw? I mean, will it differ from the usual insert and play?
    2. As the game mentioned above requires 3.56, will it work? I've seen patches for other games like Dragon Age, but is it even possible to use these with the legal version, or would I need to dump the bd?

It's just, I don't think my father would be able to use a game manager even if it's super simple. It deviates from the "usual path".

There is no dual boot yet if I'm not mistaken?! But even if there would be such, the 3.56 requirement would still be a problem, wouldn't it? So there is no chance for a default boot of the ofw and a second one which allows me to use homebrew stuff.

I could be wrong since I dont own any 3.55+ games, but I think that the only way to play would be to dump games that need 3.56+FW to boot up so that you can use Dean's EBOOTMOD tool. Since you wont be the only one using the PS3 you may want to install the 3.60 spoofer as well to stop accidental firmware upgrading.

PS. Dean also has a app similar to the above called EBOOTFIX which also does the same except your game can launch directly from the XMB like a PSN game which wouldn't deviate from the 'usual path'.

I installed kmeaw to take a closer look. The game doesn't boot. Dumping a game I already own is a bit of a waste. Guess there is no way to patch those files at runtime?

Lol, that's the whole idea.. You're supposed to own the games you play, otherwise don't go around saying that it's wasteful.. Just wait until your laser dies!

To answer your other question about patching at run-time, no.

I think you need CFW 3.55, a 3.56 of 3.60 spoofer, and a fixed EBOOT.BIN. Most backup managers wil ask if you want to change the PARAM.SFO automatically, or you can do this yourself.

You can either launch games normally, or through the backup manager once installed. PSX-SCENE member AlexDC22 has a great list, to see which games work and which games do not work. You can find a link to it, at the webiste in my sig. You can also find the lastest emulators, and other stuff for your PS3.

EDIT: This may help http://psx-scene.com/forums/f187/tig...masters-84406/ (Tiger Woods 2012 - Masters)
