Cant run Crysis 2?? –
03-22-2011,01:27 PM
I rented the game this morning (first day it came out on the shelves), backed it up on the internal HDD using the latest MM. Loaded it with the disc inside.. Bam, get error 80010017 (never had this before) and get kicked back into XMB. I've tried running the game right off the disc (not as a backup) but I get the same error.
I'm on Kweaw 3.55 w/3.60 spoof (although that doesn't work anymore) and have tried to run it on MM, GAIA and as an original game off the PS3 disc (rented).
The hell is wrong?

Ya need to replace some files. The game wants 3.60 to run.

I just removed the 3.60 spoof and tried it through MM again, this time MM gave me a pop up stating that the game was 3.56 to run and to change a file to reflect it.. I said yes.. But the outcome was the same.. Error 80010017.
For a while I thought my BD drive was blown, but I just popped in Vanquish and it runs just fine (off the disc).. So the reader isn't the issue.
What can I do to make Crysis run? What files need to be changed? Or should I change my CFW (Kmeaw 3.55) to something else (would rather not go that way as all my other games work flawlessly - KZ3, MvsC3, Bulletstorm, GT5, etc..)

Once again, this game requires a higher firmware then what you actually have installed so the eboot.bin file needs to be modified to reflect that 3.55 is ok to run on. Just changing the PARAM.SFO isn't going to do the trick. Do a search on the forums for Crysis 2. I'm pretty sure the fix has been posted.

As Chesh said; you need to replace some files
It's not a case of the firmware version being reported as 3.60 .... you actually, physically, need to replace EBOOT.BIN as the retail one *requires* 3.60. You need a modified EBOOT that removes that restriction. Check the GAME BACKUP section.

~edit~
There ya go! ^_^

I've searched.. I've yet to find an hacked eboot.bin file or any fix. Even then, wouldn't it just prompt to upgrade the FW and not give this 80010017 error?

No, because MultiMAN will take care of the PARAM.SFO - so the game doesn't prompt for an update - and the EBOOT itself will take care of the physical requirements, thereby removing the 10017 error.

1st. Crysis 2 isn't out yet. It doesn't need an EBOOT mod anyhow.
2nd. Motorstorm Apocalypse' 1.01 patch doesn't need an EBOOT mod. Works just fine on 3.55."

That was in regards to the "leak" (which is why I said it wasn't out at the time)
The "leak" was pre-patched, but the retail requires the EBOOT mod.

alright, I guess I'll wait till one becomes available as it's not listed in the repo thread yet.
This is the first time I've had any issues loading a game before, hence why I was worried I'd have to overhaul my current CFW and whole setup.
Thanks for the help and I'll be awaiting that eboot!
