    Hey guys,

I have a 3.41 Phat (never downgraded), and I can start anything in JB mode. The problem is that I can't back to the XMB. For example, I can start any Game Manager. I'll select a game. Normally it'd take you back to the XMB so you could select the disc. Instead, I get a bunch of stardust, like when your PS3 temporarily transitions to go back to the XMB. Mine just hangs on that stardust. It happens if I quit an app. I just finished using Blackbox FTP, and after I hit "X" to go back to the XMB, I just got that darn stardust again. If I'm in an app and I hit the menu button in the middle of the controller and select "Quit Game", it again gives me stardust but never resets to the XMB. I also noticed that when it hangs on this stardust that the HDD light on the PS3 doesn't blink. Is my PS3 fux0red? If so, any ideas how to restore it to working JB order? I have a second PS3 for all purpose use, so I don't care if I lose blu-ray playback. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

Try loading the PS3 into safe mode and run restore file system from the menu. http://community.us.playstation.com/message/695272

Holy crap! I can't believe it worked. I didn't even know the PS3 HAD a Safe Mode. My file system was corrupt, and now it works like brand new. Merry Christmas Chesh, and thank you for this early gift. I thought my PS3 was toast!

it was only a tip of mine as he could run apps, cause i had very same issues and solved it by running only the app instead of using the recovery menu which is more uncomfortable.

anyways luckily you solved the problem. btw i noticed this "effect" by switching between different payloads...

I had to use recovery mode after i mistakenly merged my ps3 files while in ftp.. most of my icons where missing and nothing was working.. luckily i didn't loose anything..

my assumption is most problems that occur during jb are read/write/access failures to system files and so the fixpermission app can restore these failures. even the fake pspemu brick can be restored this way. if you change any files then it is of course not possible.
