    Hello everyone,

I'm creating this post because I just can't access recovery mode on my CECHG01 PS3. And I've searched on this problem, but can't really find anyone with a similar problem.

The first time I tried, was with a JB 3.41 OFW (P3Free dongle). This actually somehow messed up my P3Free dongle, after which I decided to go straight from JB OFW 3.41 to Kmeaw CFW 3.55 (this worked fine in one update).
So for now I'm happy with my system, but it's still odd that I can't access the recovery menu.

I've read numerous tutorials and watched all the videos I could find, but my PS3 just happily shows the dashboard every single time.

I turn off my PS3 (have tried: using controller, holding power and switch in back).

Then I press and hold the power button.
This is where I differ from most already, I get 3 beeps in rapid succession when the waving bar animates on the screen, in comparison to most people who get 1 beep.

I keep holding power, until the console powers off again (green light goes red). I've tried this with releasing the power button when the green light turns red and then pressing it again, and I tried it with keeping the power button pressed in.
This is also where I see some oddities, because my PS3 doesn't shut off immediatly. Instead it blinks the green light 6 to 11 times and then turns red.
Also, if I'm still holding the power button down when the green light turns red, the console boots up immidiatly again. So it's REALLY hard to time the release of the power button at the exact moment the PS3 turns off.

Now the PS3 boots up again, but I just get the regular 3 quick beeps, and then the dashboard.

No matter what I try (releasing the power button at these 3 beeps), I never get any recovery screen.

Does anyone have any clue whats up?
Should I be trying something different, or is my recovery mode just disabled?
As it seems odd that it doesn't work for 3.41 and 3.55 firmware...

    Regards,
    Michaël

Do you have everything unplugged from PS3 to start, you say that when on 3.41 recovery messed up your dongle - you shouldnt have dongle in whilst entering recovery mode.

Ensure there is nothing plugged in to PS3 (other than power cable and tv cable) then attempt recovery.

Tried it with and without dongle.
Tried it with HDMI and RGB video cable.
Tried it with and without disc in the drive.

My default tryout setup is: power cable, HDMI for video, disc in drive.

Could be the feathertouch button acting up. Take lid off and press the metal tang underneath power button to the metal pad under it to emulate the on/off switch.

Could also try cleaning the touch button with some kind of non abrasive alcohol solution to get any excess crud off it. Remember to have NOTHING plugged in. Not your dongle, take any discs out (might make a difference)

Still no go... nothing in it except for the HDMI and power cable, still same 3 beeps scenarios.

My PS3 is rather old, could it be that this first batch just doesn't have the recovery menu?

The way I read it, something in the firmware change at some point (2.50 or somewhere along that line) added a way to access the recovery menu.
But maybe my PS3 just doesn't have the menu at all.

ever since my last post here i have been googling for an answer for you, and boy does google sucks, i remember when simple searches would yield great results, sorry bud, i wish i could help more...also worth nothing is that some others have had succes flashing the firmware custom or original from xmb, tho the suggested safer method is from recovery.

When i did my 2007 cecha01 60 hdd phat boy, i had to go to 3.55 ofw from 3.50 ofw from recovery, then xmb for cfw 3.55 kmeaw as recovery was telling me there was an error of sorts. good luck bud

My PS3 is a launch model, and recovery was added with FW. I just did this: turn off system from XMB, now push and hold power button (first you'll hear 1 beep then another- system goes straight off), again push an hold power button (this time you'll hear 1 beep then 2- let go of button/ should be in Recovery Menu)
