Cannot use component output with JB(At least 4:3) –
I thought some of you might like to know that you cannot use backups with a component cable. At least, not on a 4:3 aspect ratio television. I discovered this just about an hour ago after testing out my theory. I had been having trouble with getting Uncharted to work even though it's on the list a green title(one that will work). I had been to a friends' who was helping me break into this scene and he had gotten mine working with other green titles, but I was having no such luck at home. Although the system booted fine, once I tried to boot the game, the video output simply shut down.
I realized that he had been using an HDMI cable on a 16:9 TV(1080p) and I was attempting to use a component cable on an old 4:3 TV(1080i). I got home after work today with this resonating in my head and got to work hooking up my PS3 to my 16:10 TV. Once the HDMI was plugged in, everything worked properly.
I will continue testing and get back with more information, or others can test different setups as well. Next test will be to take that component cable and test it on my 16:10 TV. Anyone who has a 16:9 TV with a component cable handy, a test would help out a lot. Also, anyone with composite cables could test on HDTV's and standard def 4:3's.
Composite and Component works on my PS3 (non-slim) on an old 60cm CRT telly. The cables also work on my plasma, I don't use HDMI because of the older style amplifier I have.
I forgot to mention that I am using the composite cable from my PS2, and a third party component cable.
Obviously you have tried the video reset option.
Also make sure that you are running 576i or lower on a CRT telly, I know that my telly doesn't like 720p and above.
