I use latest multiMan FTP on PS3 and FileZille on my Windows 7 computer.

Can I move files from one dir to another on dev_hdd0?

Yes you can, just drag an drop within the ps3's window(the right side of filezilla)

I tested but i get this error: 502 Unimplemented or invalid command

u can move,copy or delete files on the internal right from multiman
go to help in the file manger screen it will show u the commands

That's not what the OP wants.

Doing the process in an FTP program will involve

1. Transferring file from PS3 to client
2. Transferring file from client to the new location on the PS3 filesystem.

...That will take AAAAAGES!!!!!

Not sure if multiman can do it, but I know blackbox can do it for sure. I use blackb0x FTP 1.2 and I can cut and paste files from one location to another.
