Can I jailbreak AND have 3D Movie capability?
Can I jailbreak AND have 3D Movie capability? –
I just got a new PS3 160GB Slim with 3.40 pre-installed and I was wondering if there was anyway to have the jailbreak and have the 3D Movie capability or am I going to have to decide to either Jailbreak OR play 3D movies?
Also, I understand that the E3 Reader can Jailbreak and also downgrade, is this the only dongle capable of this or are there others which are better?
Which dongle is the "best" in terms of reliability and support and customer satisfaction?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Hello, I dont know about the 3D cuz I never really cared about it and thing its a useless piece of crap.. atleast while u hv to use the damn glasses..

I dont know about costumer support on either of the dongles but if that's a concern for you I'd go for the E3 as they seem to be updating regularly and its a cheap dongle..
Keep in mind there are other options out there I'm just talking about those I've had an experience with.. just go around the forum and read a few threads before u make up your mind..
There really is no "best" dongle….its all in what you want to buy really. I use my iPhone 3G and downgraded from 3.50 with it and everything. I've not run across any game that wouldn't play that is listed as working. The one you want to avoid is the "official" PSJailbreak device for 2 reasons. #1 is the price….its $99….2nd reason is you have to leave it in your USB port while in jailbreak mode (unless that's been fixed). The PSGroove and clone devices don't require it to be left in, once you're jailbroken, you can remove it and free up the USB port for external hard drives or EyeToy or for charging controllers…etc…Of course, you could use a USB hub but that's just one more thing to worry bout….it's nice to keep USB ports free when possible. When PSGroove was first ported, everyone was after the Teensy boards and they sold out FAST…then the E3 was the first dongle to have a port of the downgrade from the ever so expensive "Official" PSJailbreak. So people wanted that. X3Max claims to have a 3.50 Jailbreak but nothing shown. My advice, use a phone, use an iPod or iPhone or whatever you get cheap, if 3.50 gets jailbroken, it will be ported in a matter of hours or days. It's not really worth it to pay a premium to have an extra hour/day of a new feature.

I am pretty sure the 3D bluray support was part of the 3.50 firmware update, and thus i do not think it logically can be supported on a jailbroken ps3.

3D games was available on earlier firmware but 3.50 was only for 3D Movies.
correct on the 3D support being part of 3.50 so your not getting that if you want to jailbreak.
I also agree with dvdexploitr on the dongles. I also have a minimus 32 that works great, havent used the E3 but since they cost about the same or the minimus a bit more in some cases i'd go with the E3. Drag and drop for loading a new hex is easier than using FLIP which is also a plus.
Or as mentioned above, even better is making use of an existing device and saving your money as long as you can. I actually used an old IPOD NANO 1g to run hermes 4b and it worked the same as the minimus dongle and the IPOD also still works fine as an IPOD.
Thanks for everyone's input on this matter.
I have decided that I will upgrade to 3.50 as 3D is my main requirement and then if I want to jailbreak at least I can downgrade.
Can someone point me to where I can get the 3.50 firmware? Also is there anything I need to watch out for or do special to upgrade to 3.50?
search the main forum. There is a thread that hosts all the firmware versions. I think 3.50 and 3.55 are the only ones available directly from Sony at the moment and since you need 3.50 you could get it from them. Just don't do it online via the PS3 or you will go up to 3.55
