I only have a 4 gb usb stick... can I do that?
you can hook up your ps3 to pc via a ethernet cable and ftp
You can actually use any kind of Ethernet cable, whether crossover or standard Ethernet cable. The PS3 (and a good chunk of modern equipment) can tell what kind of cable your using, so the need for using a crossover cable is eliminated for this purpose. Using a 4gb USB drive to try and transfer games is just asking for trouble. Spend a few dollars and buy a quality Ethernet cable. (Check reviews). If your in the United States, you can buy cables like this from Monoprice for a few dollars. Having an Ethernet cable is a necessity for a ps3 with modified firmware.
At monoprice.com, a 3ft basic Ethernet cable is 74 cents. USPS First Class Mail is 1.71. $2.47 cents shipped to my door for the cable. If ya need a longer cable, they have those for just a few cents more. I'm sure there is similar sites in Europe or Asia. Don't go to Best Buy or a similar electronics store to buy the cable, unless you want to get ripped off. I order every cable, adapter, and converter through their site. Highly recommended.
Install blackb0x FTP or the updated FTP client that is on front page news. Most backup managers have a FTP program built in, but I've always liked using dedicated FTP software. There are tutorials if you search on how to connect your laptop to your ps3 through a FTP connection. It may seem a little confusing at first, but after you do it once, its cake.
