Can I get banned for jailbreaking my PS3?
Can I get banned for jailbreaking my PS3? –

I am contemplating on jailbreaking my PS3 but I have read that in doing so, sony will ban your PSN account. Is this true? Has anyone ever been banned?
Also, what are the risks in jailbreaking. Will my PS3 get damaged?
Lastly, are there any equipment I need to buy in order to jailbreak my PS3?
Sorry for the stupid questions.
Thanks

1) Sony can't ban you, because you can't connect to PSN. Your version will be 3.55.
2) There is no risk in jailbreaking.
3) If your PS3 firmware is above 3.55, you must downgrade to 3.55 by E3 Flasher or ProgSkeet in order to jailbreak. I copied this paragraph from downgrade topic:
"You now need to find out which firmware is the lowest you can downgrade to. Easiest way to do this is to use MinVerChk : http://www.multiupload.com/LI9OWT15UW Once you have it, put it on an USB stick at PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP and try to install it via XMB. You will get an error message telling you which is the lowest version you can install on your model."
Look at your minimum firmware version and see if it's 3.55 or lower. If so, you can downgrade and jailbreak.

i would like to correct you with your answer there yes there is a chance you can damage your ps3 when jailbreaking aslong as you know what your doing and follow tutorials to the letter then chances are slim but there is always the risk

Thanks for the reply but why does it have to be on 3.55? I saw this video: youtube. com/watch?v=Ll8BO8Oi3uo and saw you could do it to 4.11.
EDIT: okay I just realised that video is a fake.
When do later version of the PS3 jailbreak get released?

There are very few games which support LAN. You can play them with your friends by installing XLink Kai to your computer.
XLink Kai: Evolution VII. Global Network Gaming.
