I purchased a new 160gb slim yesterday(CECH-2501A) and it had firmware 3.40 on it and iam in the USA.Upgraded to 3.41 added a 640 GB HD works like a charm. Theres no way to tell till you buy it and check.
No way of telling really. All you can do is ask the seller the last time they updated it/went online with it/used it. If it hasn't been used for a while or you know they haven't been online for a while, it will only have 3.41 or less hopefully.
Probably just easiest to ask the seller to check. If you buy it from a shop, just take it back if its no good.
My PS3 320gb - motion bundle just arrived today. (amazon - germany)
Firmware is 3.40
now i will have to update it to 3.41: http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66545 (FW 3.41 (2nd Version))
